“Hey! Watch where you’re going!” Ada shouted as she felt a body-like figure collide into her while she moved back to make way for the blind man. Tunde turned back to see the crazy woman who was screaming—then, as they turned, their gazes locked, and they were struck by the sheer beauty of each other’s eyes. Their eyes met, and for a moment, time stood still. The collision was forgotten, replaced by a spark of connection. The impact was nothing compared to the jolt of electricity that ran through them as their eyes met. With a dazed expression, they gradually regained their senses, taking in the surroundings. They both apologized, then walked away with a mix of confusion and curiosity.

Ada is bubbly, fashion-conscious, a music lover, and an Igbo woman; while on the other hand, Tunde is a Yoruba man who’s charming, a foodie, and loves the cinema.

Ada was in Victoria Island for one of her friend’s weddings. She had been in Lagos for a while because that was where she was posted for her National Youth Service Corps. She was out—when she had the encounter with Tunde—to get something to gift her friend for her wedding. Ada was reminiscing about what had happened earlier when she lost track of time until she was drawn back into reality by her ringtone.

“Ada! Ahh ah! You said you were going to come earlier to help with some arrangements.”

“I know, I’ve just been a little bit preoccupied, but I’ll be there as soon as possible,” she defended.

“It’s fine, just don’t be too late,” Ella said, accepting the explanation.

Tunde’s attention was called by his friend, who was surprised by how long he had been getting his suit ironed.

“I just want to make sure it’s perfect,” he said.

“Hope you got a matching trouser after ruining the first one?” one of his friends asked jokingly.

Tunde was actually on his way to get a new pair of trousers because the first one he planned to wear to the wedding got torn when he tried picking up his phone that had mistakenly fallen on the ground. Apparently, it was too tight, but he wasn’t expecting it to be that weak.

“Wow, it’s you again,” said Ada, smiling as she saw Tunde.

“So, who are you to the bride?” Tunde asked.

“I’m her friend. I’m the bridesmaid,” she replied.

Tunde was also a friend of the groom and had been invited to the wedding happening at Eko Hotel. They discussed and bonded over the Nigerian award-winning Jollof rice.
