Kelechi was said to have stolen his friend's money, which he didn't deny. Everyone in the school heard about his misdeed. He was called out on the assembly ground in front of over five hundred students. He was flogged and given two weeks' suspension.

His parents and siblings were informed about the atrocity he committed. They didn't take it easy on him; he was punished and stigmatized at home. Kelechi became repentant and pleaded for forgiveness, but the stigmatization was still intact.

He resumed school after the two weeks' suspension, but his return to school happened to be the worst situation for him. All his friends abandoned him. He received backlash from students and teachers every minute, which led him to depression. Even his friend's parents in church stopped their children from associating with him.

When the reproach became too much for him to handle, he resolved to kill himself by getting drugs and taking them excessively. He stopped by the medicine store while coming back from school and got the drugs.

Afterward, he made for the nearby bush and brought out his water bottle filled with water to take the drugs.

“Stop! Please! Do not do it!” a lady who happened to be the chemist who sold the drugs to him screamed, moved closer to him, collected the drugs, and hugged Kelechi affectionately.

“I love you, boy!”

“It has really been a while since someone said that to me. No one loves me. Leave me alone, let me die, please!”

The female chemist took him to her shop, calmed him down, and made him feel loved to extract the story hidden underneath Kelechi's lips. After a while, Kelechi explained everything that had happened to her.

The female chemist held his hands and said, “Kelechi, I know you made a great mistake, but your life is worth more than the mistake you made. Suicide is not the best thing to do to cover up your mistake. You must find reasons to live in every situation! Men hate mistakes and the person involved in them, but when you turn to God, He brings beauty out of your ashes. He brings glory out of your mistakes. So, my dear Kelechi, do not allow your mistakes and what people say to define and lead you to death. Instead, live in the splendor of the corrections and beauty gotten from your ashes.”
