She had always known it—deep within her heart—that God was calling her. From childhood, His voice had been clear, His presence undeniable, drawing her closer with a love she didn’t understand. Yet, she resisted. She was not ready to go deeper. She clung tightly to the pleasures of the world, unwilling to pick up her cross and follow Him. The cost felt too heavy.

Jesus had said, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves, take up their cross daily, and follow me.” But she wasn’t ready to deny herself. Fear anchored her—fear of losing the life she knew, fear of letting go of friendships, habits, and dreams she had built around temporary happiness.

Time and time again, she shut her ears to the gentle voice of the Holy Spirit. She ran, seeking shelter in sin, trying to drown out the call. But even in her rebellion, Abba never let her go. His love remained—steady, patient, everlasting—reaching out to her through the noise she surrounded herself with.

She kept pushing Him away, deeper into worldly pleasures, until everything she trusted began to collapse. Betrayals from friends, the loss of things she once thought essential, left her hollow and broken. She had no one left to run to, nowhere to hide, except into the arms of the One she had fled from all along.

In the wreckage of her life, she finally stopped running. In a moment of deep, soul-wrenching surrender, she whispered the words that Heaven had been waiting to hear: “I surrender.”

And in that sacred surrender, she found what she had been longing for all her life—love, healing, and the beginning of a new story written by the hand of a faithful God.
