Dear Storylovers,
Over 100 entries from 13 states and 35+ local governments have been poured into TheGoodFelo Young Writers' Awards (TYWA) 2025.
Now, after months of audacious storytelling, courageous creativity, and countless pages of stunning submissions, TYWA 2025 is gently winding down.
We've all worked hard towards making this season a resounding success. The Strategy Team, First and Second Review Panels, Submissions Desk, and our vibrant literary community have been nothing short of remarkable.

₦100,000 – First Prize
₦50,000 – Second Prize
₦50,000 – Third Prize
₦50,000 – ReadWorthy Prize

TYWA 2025 - First Place Winner
Mr. Kunle by Oluwatola Ibikunle-Aina (Lagos).

EXCERPT
“Pastor Kunle is a kind...” I managed before the words snagged, trembling on the edge of tears. The realisation crashed over me: I had a father. A father who had loved me without condition. I sat there, helpless before the camera, choking on sobs I had never intended to release. That day, something changed forever. Mr. Kunle stopped being “Mr. Kunle.” He became Dad.

TYWA 2025 - Second Place Winner
An Easy Way Out by Sharon Adeboye (Ile-Ife, Osun).

A knock rattled her thin door. Instinctively, Muna shoved the sachet into her pocket and wiped her hands on her shorts. The only “visitors” who had darkened her door in her three months of National Youth Service in Kano were preachers—and you didn’t get many of those around here.

TYWA 2025 - Third Place Winner
BOY by Chioma Ezeh (Emene, Enugu).
EXCERPT
Anyone could tell when Boy was nearby. He carried with him an unmistakable stench of decay, like the dead rat I had discovered in the hostel a few weeks earlier. His odor was a murderer, a destroyer of peace, and I couldn’t help but wonder why a young child would smell that way. Boy’s head was nearly bald, save for a few stubborn strands clinging to his scalp. And if you looked closely, you would notice four large, swollen ringworms comfortably settled among the sparse patches of hair.

TYWA 2025 - Readworthy Prize Winner
The Silent Battles Of An Orphan by Glory Adejuyitan (Ogbomoso, Oyo).

EXCERPT
Other children could eat as much as they wanted, but she couldn't, even if she was told to. She feared that she might become a glutton who would not only consume their food but also their finances. She couldn't wear expensive clothes; everything about her had to be moderate and average.

EXCERPT
For a moment, words escaped me. I just stared.
He tapped the table lightly, jolting me back.
“Oh! No, you can sit,” I said too quickly, my cheeks heating.
He chuckled, a low sound that made something flutter in my chest, and slid into the seat across from me. I tried to look back at my book, but the words swam before my eyes.
