About Us

At TheGoodFelo, we believe in the power of storytelling. We know that every great writer starts somewhere, and we’ve made it our mission to give young African storytellers the platform, support, and recognition they deserve.

But this isn’t just about writing. It’s about celebrating creativity, amplifying voices, and ensuring our young writers never lose their drive.
How It All Began
TheGoodFelo didn’t start as an organization; it started as a personal journey.

In 2018, after one of the most difficult experiences of my life, I found healing in writing. It became clearer that stories weren’t just entertainment for me; they were a way to process life, to connect, and to leave something meaningful behind.

That realization sparked an idea. While I struggled to get back into writing, I thought, “What if I could support other young writers and start something that will be a source of inspiration for more of us to keep writing no matter what?
That thought became a mission.

In 2020, we launched our first major project, the TYWA Contest (TheGoodFelo Young Writers' Award), and it changed everything. We started receiving beautiful, thought-provoking, and truly remarkable stories from young writers across Nigeria. Each story proved what we (more like “I” to be honest) already knew: Africa is filled with storytellers waiting to be heard!

Since then, we’ve expanded our vision, hosting literary contests, workshops, and mentorship programs to help young writers hone their craft, get recognized and rewarded.
At TheGoodFelo, we also believe history is incomplete without the voices of storytellers. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to:
  • Empower young African writers by giving them platforms to showcase their work.
  • Reward creativity and originality through literary contests, workshops, and prizes.
  • Foster a reading and writing culture that thrives in everyday life.
  • Connect readers with quality content.
